An ash cloud from a volcanic eruption in Iceland has caused major disruption to flights across the UK.
From midday today, until at least 6pm, there will be no flights permitted in UK controlled airspace except for in emergency situations, according to The Air Traffic Control Service (NATS).
The move has been taken as tiny particles of rock, glass and sand inside the ash could clog aircraft engines.
The Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre has issued a forecast that the ash cloud from the volcano eruption will track across Northern Europe tonight.
