The recent successful worldwide distribution of the latest Harry Potter book helped TNT Network Logistics win a three-year contract with Macmillan Distribution, which as well as publishing books, also operates a distributor business for other publishers, including Bloomsbury, the publisher of the Harry Potter books. Last year TNT Network Logistics won the contract to store and distribute the huge number of copies of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix – in the tightest security operation ever undertaken by the company.
TNT Network Logistics is the multi-user division of TNT Logistics UK. It handles a wide range of goods through its network but has a particular focus on the publishing, print and media industries and incorporates TNT Newsfast through which it delivers all the nation’s daily and Sunday newspapers.
The new contract, for the nationwide distribution of third party books from Macmillan’s Swansea operation, is co-coordinated through TNT Network Logistics’ depot at Bristol. “We will be delivering 80-100 pallets a day to wholesalers, retailers and freight forwarders (for export orders),” says managing director David Bermingham.
